DNS, or Domain Name System, is a system that helps computers find each other by translating domain names into IP addresses. DNS is built into most modern operating systems, and it’s also available as a standalone service. PS4 uses DNS to translate domain names like “playstation.com” into the corresponding IP addresses for your console. This allows you to access games, services, and other content on PS4 from anywhere in the world. If you’re having trouble connecting to PS4 or if you’re having trouble accessing certain content, make sure you’ve set up your DNS correctly. You can do this by following these steps:
- Open the Settings menu on your PS4 system.
- Select Network and Internet.
- Under “Network Settings,” select Advanced Settings.
- Under “IPv4 Settings,” select Use the following DNS server addresses." Enter the IP address of one of your preferred DNS servers in the Preferred DNS Server field and press OK button. If you don’t have a preferred DNS server, leave this field blank and PS4 will use its default settings. Press OK button to save your changes.
- Under “IPv6 Settings,” select Use the following IPv6 address." Enter an IPv6 address in the Preferred IPv6 Address field and press OK button to save your changes. If you still experience problems connecting to PS4 or accessing certain content, please contact PlayStation Support for assistance." ..
