When you want to merge two layers in Illustrator, you need to use the Merge command. This command will create a new layer on the bottom of the first layer and add the content from the top of the second layer. The Merge command is located at the bottom of the Illustrator palette. To use this command, select one of your layers and click on the Merge button. The Merge dialog will appear. In this dialog, you will need to select which layer you want to merge with. If you only have one layer that needs merging, then just click on OK to merge both layers. If you have multiple layers in Illustrator, then you will need to select which one needs merging before clicking on Merge. If there are any errors when merging your layers, then your computer may not be able to understand what you are trying to do and may give an error message. After merged your layers, click on OK again to close Illustrator and return to your original document.
