If you want to create a lower third in Photoshop, there are a few things you need to know. First, open up Photoshop and create a new document. Next, select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) and draw a rectangle around the area of your image that you want to use for the lower third. Next, click on the Edit menu and select Fill. From the popup menu, select Gradient Overlay and click on the arrow next to it to open up the options. Select the Linear gradient option and set the colors as follows: Start with black as your background color and fill in all of the white areas with a light blue color. Then fill in all of the blue areas with a dark blue color. Finally, fill in all of the yellow areas with a light green color. Click on OK to finish filling in the gradient overlay. Now that we have our gradient overlay set up, we need to add our text layer. To do this, click on the Layers panel and then click on Add New Layer at the bottom of the panel. From here, select Text from among all of Photoshop’s available layers options and enter your desired text into the text box that appears next. Once you have finished entering your text, click on OK to close out of this dialog box and return to your document window. Now that we have our layers setup correctly, it’s time to start editing them!
