If you’re having trouble getting into your Playstation 4, or just want to clean it up and start over, resetting it may be the answer. Resetting your Playstation 4 will erase all your data, settings, and saved games. However, you can still use your account if you have a password. Here’s how to factory reset a Playstation 4 without a password:

  1. Turn off your Playstation 4 by pressing the power button on the front of the system.
  2. Wait 10 seconds until the system powers down completely.
  3. Hold down the power button and press the eject button at the same time to remove the disc tray from your Playstation 4 console.
  4. Hold down both buttons on your PlayStation 4 controller until you see a blue light flash on it twice (this indicates that it is in recovery mode).
  5. Press and hold down both buttons on your PlayStation 4 controller until you see a green light flash on it (this indicates that it has been successfully entered into recovery mode).
  6. Release both buttons and insert the USB cable that came with your PlayStation 4 console into an open USB port on your computer (make sure to connect the red wire to ground).
  7. Open up Sony’s “Playstation Network Update” application (it should be installed if you connected your PS4 to the internet during setup) and click “Restore System Settings” in the lower left corner of the window.
  8. Follow Sony’s instructions to restore factory settings onto your PS4 console. Once complete, restart your system by pressing both buttons on your controller again and then selecting “System Settings” from within Sony’s “Playstation Network Update” application ..
