If you’re new to Illustrator, or just need a refresher on how to draw a circle, this tutorial will walk you through the process.

  1. Start by creating a new document and filling it with white.
  2. Select the Rectangle tool (M) and draw a rectangle that’s about twice as wide as it is tall. Make sure the rectangle is positioned so that its top left corner is at the bottom left corner of your screen, and its bottom right corner is at the top right corner.
  3. Select the Ellipse tool (L) and draw an ellipse that’s about twice as wide as it is tall. Make sure the ellipse is positioned so that its top left corner is at the bottom left corner of your screen, and its bottom right corner is at the top right corner.
  4. Select both objects and press Ctrl+J (Windows) or Command+J (Mac) to join them together into one circle object. You can also use the Object > Arrange > Send To Back command to move it behind other objects on your page if you want to keep it hidden until later in your project. ..
