If you’re like most people, you probably don’t want to have to take apart your PlayStation 4 to fix it. But if something goes wrong, or you just want to clean it up, disassembling your PS4 is a necessary step. Here’s how:
- Turn off your PlayStation 4 and unplug it from the power outlet.
- Remove the screws that hold the top and bottom of the console together (four on the top and eight on the bottom).
- Lift off the top of your PS4 and set it aside.
- Lift off the bottom of your PS4 and set it aside.
- On each side of your console, locate two Phillips head screws that hold in a light bar (these are usually silver). Remove these screws with a Phillips head screwdriver (or a coin if they’re tight). Be careful not to lose these screws!
- Carefully pull out both light bars (they should be attached by wires) and set them aside. You’ll also notice two small black boxes near each light bar; remove these as well (again, be careful not to lose them!).
- Locate four more Phillips head screws on either side of your console near where the power cord enters it; remove these with a Phillips head screwdriver (or a coin if they’re tight). Again, be careful not to lose them!
- Lift off the front panel of your PlayStation 4 and set it aside (you’ll now see all of the internal components). Note: If there’s anything plugged into any of the ports on this front panel–like an HDMI cable–remove it before proceeding! Otherwise you could damage your device! 9 . Clean any dust or debris that may have accumulated on any component inside your PlayStation 4–this will help ensure smooth operation in future repairs or replacements! 10 . Reattach all components in reverse order: first replace the light bars ..
