If you have an EGR system on your 6.0 system, it is important to delete it. Deleting the EGR system will stop your engine from running on cold start and will also prevent the car from starting if there is a power outage. To delete the EGR system:
- Open the car’s door and remove the battery cover (if there is one).
- Remove the two screws that hold the EGR unit to the car body (if there are any).
- Disconnect all of the wires from the EGR unit (if there are any).
- Place all of these parts in a clear plastic baggie and put them in a cupboard or other storage area so they don’t get damaged during uninstallation process.
- Remove all of the old fluid from around the EGR unit (if there is any). If you don’t have any old fluid, you can use a vacuum cleaner to suck up all of the air out of each fitting on top of the unit before putting it back in place (this will take some time). You can also use a plunger to push all of this fluid out from under each fitting into a small bowl or container so you can easily remove it later if needed.
- Put everything back together again and reattach screws that were removed earlier (if needed).
