If you want to cut a shape out of another shape in Illustrator, there are a few different ways to go about it. The easiest way is to use the Rectangle tool (M). To create a rectangle, click and hold down the mouse button while you drag the cursor around the object you want to cut out. When the cursor changes into a crosshair, release the button. Then, drag the rectangle around the object you want to cut out. If you want to create a perfect rectangular shape, you can use the Pen tool (P). To use this tool, first select it by clicking on its icon in the toolbar. Then, click and hold down the mouse button while you drag it around your object. When the cursor changes into a crosshair, release the button. Then, draw your rectangle by dragging your mouse across your object. If you want to create an irregular shaped cutout, you can use one of two other tools: The Ellipse tool (L) or The Rounded Rectangle tool (R). To use these tools, first select them by clicking on their icons in the toolbar. Then, click and hold down the mouse button while you drag them around your object. When they change into crosshairs, release the buttons and draw your desired shape by dragging your mouse across your object. ..
