If your PlayStation 4 is not working as it should, there’s a good chance that the fan is not spinning as fast as it should. This can be caused by a number of things, but the most common culprit is dust and debris buildup on the fan. Here’s how to clean the fan on a PlayStation 4:

  1. Turn off your PlayStation 4 and unplug it from the power outlet.
  2. Remove the screws that hold down the top panel of your console.
  3. Lift off the top panel of your console and set it aside.
  4. Locate and remove the fan assembly (see image below).
  5. Clean all of the dust and debris that has built up on the fan blades using a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool attachment or an old toothbrush (see image below). Make sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies! Replace any parts that need to be replaced, such as blades or bearings, once they have been cleaned properly.
