If your car’s engine starts to misfire or smoke, it’s likely that the spark plugs are fouled. Here’s how to clean them:

  1. Park your car on a level surface with the engine off.
  2. Remove the air filter and unscrew the spark plug cap.
  3. Pour a small amount of oil into the spark plug hole and insert a spark plug electrode into the oil. Turn the ignition key to “on” and wait until you see sparks fly out of the electrode, then turn it off quickly.
  4. Hold a can of compressed air next to the spark plug hole and spray it into it while turning the ignition key on and off rapidly. This will dislodge any dirt, debris, or carbon from inside the engine cylinder head. ..
