If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think much about the paper shredder in your office. But if you’re like most people, you should. A paper shredder can be a dangerous tool if not properly cleaned. Here’s how to do it:
- Turn off the power to the shredder and unplug it from the wall.
- Open the front cover of the shredder and remove any paper or plastic bags that may be blocking the blades.
- Remove any large pieces of paper that may be lodged in the blades or around the feed mechanism.
- Wipe down all surfaces inside and outside of the shredder with a damp cloth or a mild soap solution. Be sure to get into all nooks and crannies!
- Replace any items that were removed during cleaning, plug in the shredder, and turn on the power to ensure proper operation before returning it to use ..
