Remove all the screws that hold the heat exchanger in place.
Disconnect the power to the exchanger.
Remove any obstructions from the exchanger’s path by clearing away any debris or leaves that may have been caught in the way.
Pour a pot of boiling water onto the exchanger’s surface and wait until it begins to boil, then pour a pot of cold water over top of it to cool it down.
Use a plunger to push any liquid that has pooled on top of the exchanger into the cold water and then use a vacuum cleaner to clean up any excess liquid and debris.
