The first step in cleaning a baitcasting reel is to remove all the debris that has built up on it over time. This can be done by using a vacuum cleaner, a bucket, or your hands. Next, use a mild soap solution to clean the reel bearings. Be sure to use enough soap to cover all of the bearings and make sure they are completely clean. Finally, use a wire brush to clean any dirt and debris that may have built up on the reel housing. Be sure to brush all of the sides and bottom of the housing as well as any areas that may be difficult to reach.
